![]() Are there basic rules that all living things have to obey here I n earth or other planets? And what's cool is that scientists are actually starting to address those questions in meaningful ways and they continue to start talking about the rules of life and at first I thought that would be what I would write a book about, and then I realized that would be a bit crazy because that, it's actually a book of may be several thousand pages long. I have been getting really interested in really basic questions about life, about what it means to be alive. Zimmer: Well I remember if anyone asked me that with some concern and the answer is pretty simple. ![]() ![]() coli is obviously fascinating we have, what did you say, we have about a billion of them in our bodies at any one time? But what the zest you would actually spend, however many years you spend, churning out-what 100,000 words-on E. After the talk, Carl and I had a brief conversation, but I am going to play that first, because it wound up being a good intro to his talk.
